Garret, this is the best explanation I've ever heard of Jesus' crucifixion. Holy Week is a difficult time for Christians, as we must face the horror of what was done to our Savior so that we, as sinners, could be reunited with God. For me, specifically, reading or otherwise learning about humans or even animals suffering is extremely painful; however, as you noted, we must re-visit Jesus' journey from time to time to remind ourselves exactly what He endured for each one of us. You made that experience easier to endure with your clarity and metaphor (Judas as a CHS was so easy to visualize)! Thank you for all you do to serve the Lord selflessly and help us grow in faith along the way. Wishing you and your family a blessed Easter.

This is an excerpt from The Jewish Roots of Holy Week, where Dr. Brant Pitre will walk you through the 7 last days of Jesus. While the Gospels give us information about Jesus' last days, Dr. Pitre will unveil the meaning behind them by looking at those events in light of the Old Testament and the prophecies that Jesus is fulfilling.

Among other topics, Dr. Pitre covers:

-Jesus' triumphal entry into Jerusalem on Palm Sunday

-The cursing of the fig tree on Holy Monday and Tuesday

-The betrayal of Jesus by Judas Iscariot on "Spy Wednesday"

-The Passover Preparation and celebration of the last Supper and the Agony in the Garden on Holy Thursday ("Maundy Thursday")

-The crucifixion on Good Friday

The Sabbath rest and Descent into hell on Holy Saturday

The Resurrection and the beginning of the New Creation on Easter Sunday
