On December 6, 2024, the Romanian Constitutional Court annulled the results of the first round of presidential elections in Romania. Citing “Russian interference,” the Court declared in their published decision that, “preferential treatment on social media platforms, which resulted in the distortion of voters’ expressed will” highly favored one candidate. Undoubtedly, they are referring to Călin Georgescu who “unexpectedly” won the first round of elections with about 23% of the vote.
The legacy media claims Georgescu is a “far right populist” and “pro-Russia” candidate whose victory, which by Romanian law should have led to a presidential runoff election, “shocked” the country. Based on recent information coming out of Romania, and widespread protests happening there, it appears that the media and those who control the government may not be telling the truth. Shocking…
Georgescu himself has said, “I am only for God and my country. Period.” Of Vladimir Putin, Georgescu has said he is a “man who loves his country.” He has made similar statements about former President, and current President-elect, Donald Trump. Speaking about Trump, Georgescu has said he “knows what he wants, he loves his people, he put America first, just like I put Romania first ... we have the same ideology.”
This is more a case of the ruling class, the liberal elites, reaping what they have sown. The people of Romania are like most people everywhere. We’ve seen it recently in Canada with known tyrant Justin Trudeau resigning. We saw it in Italy with the election of Giorgia Meloni. Same with Argentina and the election of Javier Milei. We’re seeing it in France with the recent “no confidence” vote and subsequent resignation of Prime Minister Michel Barnier; hopefully President Emmanuel Macron will be next. We’ve seen it here with the most recent election of Donald Trump.
Humans don’t want excessive government intrusion in their lives. We don’t want people who think they know better mandating what we can and cannot do while they have lived lives of opulence and detachment from how “normal” folk live. We don’t want endless wars in far off lands where our young people go to die so those very same elites can line their bank accounts. We don’t want tyranny. Romania has been down this road before.
“Adevărul nu se teme de judecată” is a Romanian proverb that means “truth is not afraid of judgement,” or “truth does not fear law.” In the spring of 1989 pastor László Tőkés, like many men of faith before him such as the American Blackrobe Regiment, Scottish Covenanters, or Magdeburg pastors to name a few, implemented the Doctrine of the Lesser Magistrate (as discussed here last week).
Tőkés spoke out against Romanian communist dictator Nicolae Ceaușescu. As a pastor in the city of Timișoara, Tőkés became increasingly candid about Ceaușescu's evil policies, particularly those targeting ethnic minorities and the repression of religious freedoms. He criticized the government in sermons and interviews, including a clandestine interview with Hungarian television, where he exposed the regime’s abuses and described how Romanians were not even aware of their human rights as possessed by all; and suppressed by tyrants like Ceaușescu.
Romania’s secret police, the Departamentul Securității Statului (Securitate), began harassing Tőkés and his supporters. He faced threats, surveillance, and attempts to isolate him within his community. In the summer of 1989, the Reformed Church leadership, under pressure from the regime, attempted to transfer Tőkés to a remote parish, effectively silencing him. Tőkés refused to leave his post, which escalated tensions. This is a primary example of cowardice in the church, and exhibited by the “leadership” no less. Sadly, far too often those who profess the faith rarely live it out.
“But as for the cowardly, the faithless, the detestable, as for murderers, the sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars, their portion will be in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur, which is the second death.” -Revelation 21:8
On December 15, 1989, authorities attempted to forcibly evict Tőkés from his church. This action, intended to silence him, instead galvanized the community. Parishioners and supporters gathered around the church to protect him. Their protest quickly grew, drawing in Romanian citizens of all backgrounds, united by frustration with Ceaușescu’s oppressive regime.
Calls for religious freedom and minority rights evolved into demands for democratic reforms and Ceaușescu’s resignation. The protests spread to other cities, becoming a nationwide uprising. Despite brutal repression by the authorities, including the use of live ammunition against demonstrators, the revolution gained momentum.
The Securitate and communist Romanian regime writ large, were acting “lawfully.” What Tőkés and others were doing was illegal. They were violating the law by asserting their natural rights as humans. In his book, When a Nation Forgets God, Erwin Lutzer writes, “When God is separated from government we are forced to accept arbitrary laws. Either God is the lawgiver or man is; either we derive our laws from theistic universal values, or we say that the individual countries are the lawgivers. Either God is supreme or the state is supreme.”
Tőkés understood this simple truth, and by living out his faith instead of cowering in fear like most, properly resisted tyranny and repudiated unlimited obedience to a corrupt civil government. We all must be willing to follow Tőkés’s example.
The protests that began with Tőkés’s marked the beginning of the end for Ceaușescu. Within days, the protests reached Bucharest, the nation’s capital, and on Christmas Day 1989, Ceaușescu and his wife were executed following a brief trial. László Tőkés’s resistance against Ceaușescu’s regime exemplified the power of individual courage in the face of tyrannical oppression. His role as the catalyst for the 1989 Romanian Revolution underscores the profound impact individuals can have when they properly dissent against evil regimes and band together for needed change.
Here is a brief video detailing the 1989 Romanian Revolution which includes some commentary from Tőkés:
Romania’s Securitate was one of the most feared and oppressive secret police forces in Eastern Europe. Established in 1948, it served as the backbone of Nicolae Ceaușescu’s authoritarian regime, tasked with monitoring, controlling, and suppressing dissent. Most Eastern Bloc countries had a secret police force. The Securitate was one of the largest, in proportion to Romania’s population, and also maintained an extensive network of informants to monitor the population.
I’ve written about secret police forces before. Common hallmarks of secret police are a network of informants to monitor the population, intimidation, arrests (often under color of law), and other forms of retaliation or coercive techniques to gain compliance through fear. As dissent grows, so too do these tactics. Until, that is, the dissent becomes too much and these arms of evil empires fail.
In 2006 Mike Waller, Senior Analyst for Strategy at the Center for Security Policy and friend of The Suspendables, wrote that “in every totalitarian government, secret police were an indispensable device for the consolidation of power, neutralization of the opposition, and construction of a single party state.” This was the case with the Gestapo, the Securitate, and essentially all other secret police forces throughout history. Their role is to target a regime’s political, religious, and/or social opponents.
Waller went on to write that, “in most Communist governing structures, the secret police was part of a much larger security and intelligence apparatus.” I would add that this is the case in any governing structure. Government begets government and always seeks more control and power over its populace whom it increasingly looks at as its own enemy over time.
Take, for instance, our own much larger security and intelligence apparatus. INTEL.gov lists no less than EIGHTEEN elements of our Intelligence Community:
Air Force Intelligence
Army Intelligence and Security Command
CIA
DIA
DoE Office of Intelligence and Counterintelligence
DHS Office of Intelligence and Analysis
Dept. of State Bureau of Intelligence and Research
Dept. of Treasury Office of Intelligence & Analysis
DEA Intelligence Program
fbi
Marine Corps Intelligence
National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency
National Reconnaissance Office
NSA
Office of Naval Intelligence
Office of the DNI
USCG Intelligence
US Space Force
In the 2006 piece, Waller noted, “when we speak of dismantling and uprooting a secret police network, we are referring not to stripping a country of its legitimate ability to fight crime and ensure national security, but to removing the institutional impediments to democracy, transparency, and accountability left by the country’s totalitarian past.”
Any rationally minded person would agree with this statement. As a nation we do have a legitimate need to fight crime and ensure national security. Yet, it seems that we are in the midst of our own totalitarian present more than we are willing to remove institutional impediments which would permit proper oversight and accountability of government overreach.
It would take its own tome to justly recall the abuses by all eighteen elements of our Intelligence Community, especially if we went back through their sullied histories. So here are just a few examples of the exact type of actions secret police forces have taken against “dissidents.” Only these were all done by, or started by, the fbi in recent years (those with an * were brought by me or another Suspendable):
Russiagate - “The FBI deceived the House, Senate and the Justice Department about the substance and strength of evidence undergirding its counterintelligence investigation of President Trump”
Clinesmith’s altered email
Politcal subversives and adulterers Peter Strozk and Lisa Page rewarded for their political bias
DNC paid for bogus Steele Dossier
Hunter’s Laptop - “FBI Spent a Year Preparing Platforms to Censor Biden Story, Withheld Info on Laptop’s Authenticity”
Pegasus Hacking Tool - Pegasus “gained notoriety when it was revealed that governments, like Saudi Arabia, Mexico, Hungary and India, had deployed it against political dissidents, journalists and human rights workers.” The fbi has paid $5,000,000 to NSO since first purchasing, but claim they haven’t used it on Americans.
fbi seized $86 Million from people not suspected of any crime in violation of Fourth Amendment
Failure to comply with Congressional Oversight (the next handful are linked here).
Hundreds retired or resigned to avoid accountability for sexual misconduct.
Political favoritism toward Biden re: classified documents
Raid of Mar-a-Lago*
Targeting of traditional Catholics*
Wray materially misled Congress, claiming it was an isolated incident (remember, secret police target religious groups)
fbi also deleted files related to the memo without providing them to Congress
Weaponization of the “law” against Catholic Mark Houck
Whistleblower retaliation*
Wray refused to answer how many informants were present on J6
fbi spends $42,000,000 per year to pay informants (remember how important an informant network is to secret police)
fbi raids journalists homes*
even ACLU speaks out against this abuse
Agents moved off of crimes against children to target political dissidents of the regime*
use of counterterrorism resources against parents who attend school board meetings*
Designating “domestic terrorism” symbols against political dissidents*
Bank of America used to target political dissidents*
Threat tag to target political/religious dissidents*
COVID-19 used to target political/religious dissidents*
This list could, and does, go on and on and on, and doesn’t even begin to scratch the surface of fbi secret police tactics throughout history like COINTELPRO and other methods of targeting and intimidating “dissidents.”
The ashes of Romania’s Securitate are still warm. Romania’s current domestic intelligence service, Serviciul Român de Informații (SRI), which was born from those ashes, says there are signs the effort to propel Călin Georgescu to the top of the polls was "co-ordinated by a state-sponsored actor." Just before the second round of presidential elections were to take place, outgoing president, Klaus Iohannis, rushed to declassify documents in order to “prove” that Moscow had its hands in Georgescu’s rise.
As the BBC reported, “the documents released in this highly unusual move were all papers drawn up for a meeting of the security council following the first round of the presidential election.” So when the candidate that the ruling class doesn’t want won in the first round, the security and intelligence apparatus suddenly had information just in time before the second round of voting that showed that the candidate that they do not want only won because of a state sponsored coordinated effort. Got it. Sounds like the same playbook used against Donald Trump with the fake Russian collusion nonsense.
During Ceaușescu’s reign of terror, the Securitate was centralized in Romania. Today, the subversion of the people’s will is more globalist in nature. In a recent appearance on RMC Story, a French media outlet that reportedly airs in Romania, former EU Commissioner Thierry Breton, threatened that they “will take all necessary measures to ensure compliance with the law.” He went on to threaten fines and bans “to protect our democracies in Europe.” He went on to urge calm, as well as compliance with the law stating, "We did it in Romania, and we will do it in Germany if necessary."
It will be interesting to see what happens in Romania in the near future. We now have the former Commissioner casually admitting that the EU was behind the cancelation of the Romanian elections, and threatened to do it again if the plebes don’t comply with what the elites want. Only this time in Germany. Meanwhile, Prime Minister of Slovakia, Robert Fico, has come out in defense of Georgescu, saying, “What happened in Romania is simply unacceptable. The results of the first round of the presidential elections weren't recognized just because the winner was someone they didn't want to win.”
On top of that, the Independent News Agency from Hungary has published an article claiming that Klaus Iohannis, is illegally occupying the position of president in Romania and was himself a Securitate officer under Nicolae Ceaușescu. As of this writing, the Romanian presidential election has been postponed until May. But, in part because of the ability to rapidly spread information in our current era, developments continue to occur.
As of yesterday, the EU doubled down on Breton’s threats. Romanians will be fined with sums between 3000€ to 10.000€ if they post anything on ANY social media platform that directly or indirectly supports a presidential candidate during the elections.
The articles cited state, "(3) In the sense of this emergency ordinance, for the elections for the President of Romania in the year 2025, any written, online, audio or video material used in the electoral campaign that directly or indirectly urges voters to choose or not to choose, to vote or not to vote for an independent candidate or for a candidate of a clearly identified political party is considered political advertising material. (4) Violation of the provisions of paragraph (2) constitutes a contravention, if the act has not been committed under such conditions as to be considered, according to criminal law, a crime, and shall be sanctioned with a fine from 15,000 lei to 50,000 lei."
Also yesterday, Romania’s High Court was considering Georgescu’s appeal after the Court of Appeals previously rejected his challenge. By nightfall, many citizens were waiting outside the High Court pending their decision. Georgescu was inside while the Court deliberated if they would proceed with betraying the election and will of the people. Their decision will be whether or not to resume the second round of elections or keep the election postponed until May.
What do you think will happen next? Will oppressive government reign once again in Romania? Is Georgescu a Russian asset? Will the EU subvert the will of the people, or are they doing what is right and truly legal? Were the tyrants caught red handed and that information spread too rapidly for them to halt the election?
Elites love "free elections" until their puppet candidate isn't chosen.
There is an ultra fine line between a proper fbi upholding the law and protecting citizens and a secret state police. Unfortunately, the last 5 years or so the fbi has become the secret police.
Thank you sir for for service and knowledge for the greater good of humanity
